NITA Uganda is pleased to announce that we have received the prestigious World Summit for Information Society (WSIS) Digital Service Design Award for our digital authentication and eSignatures solution, UGPass.
Through this award, the WSIS recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in designing and implementing digital services that enhance accessibility, inclusivity, and user experience and highlights the new benchmarks the UGPass Solution has set in the field of digital authentication and electronic document signing.


While receiving the award at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, Ms. Brenda Maniraguha, the project manager of UGPass, expressed deep gratitude for the honour, stating that winning the WSIS Digital Service Design Prize is an extraordinary achievement for Uganda and reflects NITA-U’s unwavering commitment to harnessing digital technologies to transform the lives of citizens. “We are incredibly proud of the dedication and ingenuity of the NITA-U Team, which have been instrumental in this success,” she added.

The National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U) is the government agency mandated to coordinate, promote and monitor information technology development in Uganda, in line with national social and economic goals. We run the National Backbone Infrastructure, the National Data Centre, UGPass and UGHub, certify IT service providers, and host the Personal Data Protection Office.
