Ms. Caroline Akello Mugisha

Caroline is a legal, compliance and governance professional. She holds 10 years of experience in the IT legal and regulatory field and has been instrumental in promoting a culture of compliance with IT laws and standards in the public and private sectors.

Before joining NITA-U, Caroline was the Manager of Compliance at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited where she pioneered the establishment of the Compliance Committee under the Uganda Bankers Association. She held other managerial positions at the Bank; overseeing the Credit Collaterals unit and Legal Advisory Services, spanning over 13 years of banking experience.

Caroline holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration obtained from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI). She also holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Dar-es-salaam and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala.
She further holds a Certificate in Public Administration Innovation and Digital Government from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, South Korea, and other certificates in leadership and ICT management.

 

The National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U) is the government agency mandated to coordinate, promote and monitor information technology development in Uganda, in line with national social and economic goals. We run the National Backbone Infrastructure, the National Data Centre, UGPass and UGHub, certify IT service providers, and host the Personal Data Protection Office.
