The PDPO addresses public grievances about data protection and privacy violations by investigating complaints and resolving issues raised by individuals. Enforcement actions include working with the Uganda Police Force to issue summons to non-compliant organisations.

The National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U) is the government agency mandated to coordinate, promote and monitor information technology development in Uganda, in line with national social and economic goals. We run the National Backbone Infrastructure, the National Data Centre, UGPass and UGHub, certify IT service providers, and host the Personal Data Protection Office.
